Mothers Day Made in Australia

Jo - Angel Aromatics - Monday, April 16, 2012

Ahhh Mothers Day in Australia. A day when children finally get to reveal their oh-so-creative gifts and cards to their very...ah..."greatful" mums. Mums who will happily sit in bed choking down cold vegemite toast with a side of sickly sweet, luke-warm coffee made with sticky fingers and the very best intentions. Remember giving Mum those delightful playdough butterfly-shaped "biscuits" which she would pretend to eat along with a card which sprinkled glitter all over the house, the car, the backyard...the whole suburb...?

Well 2012 is the year to make it up to her! She will love a beautiful, fragrant and affordable gift from Angel Aromatics. If you know your Mum's favourite fragrance or colour you will find something she will love from us. Simple. Head to our stockist page to find some Angel Aromatics Australian Made gifts for Mum.

If you're a little less handy with scissors and ribbon as you are with say, a hammer and drill we make it easy for you with our range of organza bags in varying sizes, shapes and colours so all you have to come up with is a card. And no glitter!

Mum will love you even more for it!

Fragrance Spotlight

Jo - Angel Aromatics - Friday, April 13, 2012

Who can resist a Parisian? Who can resist the sweet scent of spiced pears poaching in the oven? Put the two together and you have a sophisticated, seductive fragrance. Irresistible!

The essence of freshly baked crumble! Sun ripened pear blended with warm vanilla and mysterious star of anise. I haven't met a person yet who hasn't fallen in love with this sophisticated scent.

Hint: Going to a dinner party? Give the host/ess a Parisian Pear Candle, Diffuser or some Green Pears in Parisian Pear fragrance. The warm caramalised spiced pear scent will complement the aroma of your meal, not clash with it.

Home? Bomboniere? What do I do?

Lana - Angel Aromatics - Tuesday, April 10, 2012

If like me, you are obsessed with blogs and online pinboards you have quite possibly seen hundreds of uses for Flowers made of Balsa and similar woods from Australia and around the world. I'm often hearing from customers who have great ideas about how to display them in the shop and what their customers use them for. We've also had a few...ah...interesting suggestions (believe me you don't want to know) but for the most part Angel fans are very clever!

Creating your own wedding bouquet that will never die is a huge trend right now. I have made a couple in my time for trade shows and you wouldn't believe how easy it is. The most time consuming part was attaching the wire. Enter the Stemmed Raleigh. Now all you have to do is bunch them together and put your own stamp on it, whether it be beading, feathers, leaves or buttons. You're not even limited to your own imagination because places like Etsy.com and Pinterest.com have so many gorgeous examples to inspire you.

We have seen Flowers incorporated into every facet of a Wedding. From invitations to bomboniere and table decoration. We have seen our Flowers strung into a gorgeous, textured ivory curtain in the name of fashion and seen them in countless interior design magazines.

Our Flowers can be cute or classy, fun and festive, fragrant gift or unscented colourful embellishment. In fact I've seen our Flowers do just about everything but your housework.

I, myself am not a fan of boring. I'm an Aquarian. Where something can be cool and different I'm in! I like to use our Flowers for decorating gifts (yes I have been known to wrap presents and make cards last minute on a Friday afternoon for my friends and family and those of the other girls here in the office).

So no matter what you choose to do with your Fragrant, funky, fun and fancy Flowers be sure to take care of your funiture, fabric and other surfaces as (like any oil) our high quality Concentrated Fragrant Oils could possibly leave a mark. You wouldn't put oily food straight on your dinner table without a plate so you're best not to put our Flowers down without a platter, bowl or vase.

Fragrance spotlight

Jo - Angel Aromatics - Friday, March 30, 2012

With things starting to cool down (as if they were ever that hot to begin with this summer) it's time to pack those bright and fresh citrus fragrances away for a few months and warm your home with a deeper, lingering seductive scent. We are absolutely loving White Lotus right now.

White lotus flowers, praline sweetness and patchouli accents make this a heavenly, decadent aroma which is equally adored by both men and women.

Hint: Layer this fragrance with Candles, Diffusers and Angel Curls® in White Lotus fragrance to keep your home fragrant around the clock.

Yummy Easter treats, 0 calories

Jo - Angel Aromatics - Monday, March 19, 2012

With Easter just around the corner it's time to start collecting yummy little gifts for your friends and family. But what about that vegan, diabetic, weight-watching cousin you just know will pop around over the long weekend?

This Easter why not hand out treats that smell yummy but don't contribute to your denist bills? Try our Ivory Safari Eggs in Vanilla & Coconut fragrance. A gorgeous little present giftwrapped in a simple cellophane bag and a cute Ribbon for something a little bit different. But what about the Easter Hat Parade at school? Why not create a bonnet that smells like Chocolate? C'mon! It's time to get your craft on!

Picture this: The kids have FINALLY crashed after a long long looong day of sugar induced hyperactivity. It's just you and an Angel Aromatics Chocolate Candle (preferably burning on the side of a warm bubble bath). Enjoy that glass of Red that's been taunting you all day (from atop the kitchen cupboard where little hands don't reach of course!) and drift off into fantasy land where that bath is filled with rich, dark melted chocolate. Don't pretend you've never thought of it. It's a great distraction from all those half-eaten bunnies in the kitchen. We still have stock but they are limited so you'll have to be quick to snap them up before the Easter Bunny does.

If you have any cool, creative or fun Angel Aromatics Easter gift ideas let us know. We're a crafty bunch and we're always looking for new hobbies :)

Creating New Products

Jo - Angel Aromatics - Wednesday, March 14, 2012

People often ask us how we come up with Colours and mixes for Flowers and Angel Curls®. The truth is we love magazines and blogs. We flick through every home, fashion or design mag we can get our hands on. We also spend hours upon hours scouring the web for pretty things. When we find something we like we tear it or print it out, take it downstairs to the factory and that's when the fun begins!

You may recognise the Curls above from our most recent trade fair. It's the brand new mix Morocco and is superbly complemented by the Teal Marine Kayla. We think they are just divine in Orange, Fig and Quince fragrance for a sweet and rich fall combination.

Or if you're a fan of the refreshing citrus shades seen EVERYWHERE this season why not try the new Orange County Curls with the classic Sian Kayla in zesty Lemon, Lime and Blossom fragrance?

Sydney Reed Gift Fair 2012!

Jo - Angel Aromatics - Friday, March 02, 2012

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to visit us at the Sydney Reed Gift Fair 2012. We had a ball showing off all of our new products, catching up with our fabulous customers and meeting a whole bunch of new people.

All of our new fragrances were a hit! Each of us ladies at Angel have our own special favourite and it was good fun trying to convince each customer that my favourite (Lemon, Lime & Blossom by the way in case you were wondering) was clearly superior to all other fragrances ;) but in the end there was no clear winner. They are all amazing! All of our new fragrances are available in Concentrated Oils, Refresher Sprays, Candles, Diffuser Sets, Diffuser Refills and even on the Flowers, Balls and Angel Curls®.

We expect to see many more Angel Aromatics Refresher Sprays stands on store counters all around the country with so many people stocking up on the bright and colourful new fragrances to refresh and revive their Flowers, Balls and Angel Curls®.

Hint: Keep your Refresher display stand on the counter and spray Flowers, Balls and Angel Curls® as you sell them to ensure they stay fragrant and fabulous for many months to come and the fragrance will linger around the counter for you to enjoy all day :)

We often tell people that we designed our new diffusers for the customer and I guess the proof is in the pudding. You gave feedback on our old diffusers and we listened. Then we bugged you with a whole bunch of follow-up questions which you generously answered and we took it all on board when designing the new and improved Reed Diffuser Set. Guess what...You nailed it! Our brand new revamped Diffuser Sets are quickly becoming one of our best selling products and it's all thanks to you. The best thing about the new packaging is that the box features a cut out section revealing scented reeds so there's really no need for a tester which is great for stores with little shelf space.

So we were already excited about showcasing our fabulous new fragrances and products but there was one thing left to think about...location, location, location! This year we decided on a slight change of scenery and we were absolutely delighted with the new stand we landed right near the front door. What did you think?

We hope you had as good a time as we did and we can't wait to catch up with you all at the next fair.

Gifts Made in Australia

Jo - Angel Aromatics - Sunday, February 26, 2012

Surely by now everyone knows that Angel Aromatics are Australian owned and operated, producing quality Australian made gifts and homewares. I'm not ashamed to say that here at Angel we're quite proud of our products. In fact we love our products!

Not only do we enjoy using and selling our products we also thoroughly enjoy making them! I mean who wouldn't love to work in a factory that smells like Annan®? And I must admit the testing phase is always my favourite. Especially when it involves taking home yummy candles, melts and diffusers just to "see how they go in a different environment" and "ask visitors what they think". Of course I'm happy to help! From a purely scientific standpoint of course!

It does have its downside though. Some afternoons I will be sitting at my desk and suddenly I get an overwhelming craving for chocolate ice cream. The craving is so strong I can smell it, almost taste it. No wait. Someone has ordered Medium Chocolate Balls in Chocolate fragrance. Phew! It's not a craving and I can sit back and inhale the delicious aroma coming from our factory, knowing that I have not gorged myself on sweets. Yay me! But there's nothing like surrounding yourself with bright colours on a Monday afternoon to make you smile and forget about 3.30itis :)

Walking into our factory is an absolute sensory experience let me tell you. The fragrant air, the hum and clinking of bottling machinery, the giggling and chatting and bright colours everywhere. Even the floor is pretty!

When people ask us why we are still making things in Australia - it's because we are Australians, an Australian company and we love knowing exactly what is in our products. We love what we do.

We love being proud of what we ourselves can produce and we have our own strict quality control measures in place - we feel confident in our products and know they are safe.  (Plus we like taking home candles and oils (to test of course ;) ).

Trade Fair - Questions Answered

Lana - Angel Aromatics - Monday, January 30, 2012

At Angel Aromatics February means sunshine, fresh fragrances, brand new products and the Sydney Reed Gift Trade Fair.

With so many retailers heading to Sydney to see new products and take advantage of our trade fair specials we thought we would give you all you need to know to make it the best trade fair ever!

When is it? Saturday 25th - Wednesday 29th February, 2012

Where is it held? Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre, Sydney City

Where will you find Angel Aromatics? Stand 7100

Keep reading below for more information:

Common Questions:

Why should I visit a trade fair?

To see, feel, touch, smell products. Yes it's easier and much cheaper to just pop onto our website and look at products but to really understand how they look and feel (and experience our many many fragrances) we always recommend you come to the fair. It will give you a much better idea of how to display products, what looks are in and to create colour schemes - plus we will get to meet you :)

The main trade fairs are this one (February Sydney) and then August in Melbourne. August is a much bigger fair in terms of exhibitors, but we find many people prefer Sydney as it's much less stressful to walk around and you can visit the fair more focused. All major exhibitors should be at the Sydney trade fair.

How do I visit a trade fair?

Reed Gift Trade Fair is a trade only event and admission is free for buyers. If you already have a Gift Industry Card you do not need to re-register - just bring it to the fair and scan it at the entry:

If you don't have a card - click here to find out how to register (there's a box at the bottom to register).

Where in Sydney is the fair?

The Reed Gift Trade Fair is located in Darling Harbour (Sydney CBD). A short walk to Centrepoint, The Rocks and lots of lovely places to explore.

What do I need to bring?

Business Cards, Credit Cards, ID, Purchase Order forms and any pictures of products or colour schemes you are trying to match. If you have a photo of your store it's also great to bring along to show wholesalers so we can better understand which products might suit you.

Water is normally provided at the fair and there are lots of restaurants nearby to visit. There is also normally many coffee carts in the centre (sometimes there is free coffee and tea provided at the trade fair too).

Carry bags are also normally provided by the organise Reed.

Do I get to order stock and take it off the stand?

Yes you can order stock but you can not take it off the stand. As this is a Trade Fair, exhibitors are wholesalers who purely take orders at the fair. For instance in our case, when you place an order at the trade fair we will process your order when we return from the fair and then make up the stock and send it fresh to your store.

How many days should I allow for the Sydney Reed Gift Fair?

This is one of the most common questions we get asked and it really varies depending upon your store. If you are a small business or company that is not searching for many new suppliers and just wants to come to the fair to look around, 1 - 2 days is probably enough. However if you are a new store or one that intends on talking to lots of exhibitors and visiting many stands then 2 - 3 days would be best. Please keep in mind the fair closes early (approx 3pm) on Wednesday the last day.

What should I wear?

Also a very popular question! One year it was over 30°C at the fair. We recommend wearing layers. The venue is airconditioned so can get quite cool but then outside can be very very hot. If you have layers which are easy to remove then you will be fine. Generally the trade fair visitor crowd is a mix of casual to smart casual. Jeans and a nice top with sandals/thongs even are ok. There is no need to get dressed up or wear a suit.

And one extra handy hint - Wear comfortable shoes to the Trade Fair!
